“What initially began as an LMD experiment to reinvigorate and reconnect us to our craft, turned into a beautiful shared experience in a city of millions. The Flower Flash is our gift to New Yorkers.” - Lewis Miller

As a creator, nothing excites me more than producing content that has a purpose. When I say excite, I mean, gives me goosebumps and makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I’m an “audio junkie.” I’m mesmerized by a phenomenal news read on WCBS 880, or a commercial jingle that gets stuck in my head (hello, Kars4Kids), and when I catch an expertly crafted podcast while zigzagging across town from the west to east side of Manhattan. It is with a wide smile on my face, that I introduce you to my brand new podcast series, HAPPENING.

HAPPENING – A podcast about all the spectacular things that happen from the moment we wake up until the time we say goodnight. That’s a lot of time for a lot… to happen.

On the debut episode, I chat with small business owner LEWIS MILLER, president of Lewis Miller Design (LMD), a man known for turning ballrooms, art museums, and other prime locations into extravagant event spaces covered in reds, purples, and every other hue of an artist’s palette. However, it’s his Flower Flashes that have captivated people all around the world and shined a spotlight onto his small business. He and his team of five have been doing great things to successfully maneuver this tricky landscape of the past few months. While other businesses have hit the pause button, Lewis Miller Design has made a "professional pivot" during these uncertain times.

May is Small Business Month, an incredible time to learn from business leaders who have made their mark and grown their passion project into a revenue generating machine. Lewis' clientele includes Chanel, Vogue, and The Met, just to name a few.

How does that famous saying go? Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity? I wouldn’t dare call Lewis lucky. His business savvy is the result of years of hard work and dedication to his constant pursuit of beauty. He’s achieved unbelievable success, including career highlights of setting the scene for Harry Winston’s Tea on a terrace, high atop a building in midtown Manhattan, and teaching a flower-arranging class for Meghan Markle at her star-studded baby shower.

If I’ve learned anything from Lewis, a strong business strategy often includes those blurry lines called the “professional pivot.”

Happy listening!
